# CadRoam > CadRoam is a private, local-first DWG, DXF and 3D CAD viewer for Mac, iPhone and iPad, developed by Eutopix Labs P.S.A. Canonical website: https://cadroam.com/ App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6793832526 (iPhone, iPad and Mac) ## What it does CadRoam opens engineering drawings and 3D models from Apple Files and processes their contents on device. It provides a touch-first viewer, multi-object visibility and isolation, layer and block browsing for drawings, mesh-derived inspection metrics, supported camera AR placement, a private local library, and locally generated PDF inspection reports. Three unique files open free. Reopening the same file, or using the built-in sample, does not consume another free opening. CadRoam Pro unlocks unlimited local viewing, camera AR and PDF report export across iPhone, iPad and Mac. It is available as an optional auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription or as a one-time, non-consumable lifetime App Store purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period and are managed in Apple Account settings. Payment and entitlement restoration are handled by Apple StoreKit. ## Format support - DWG: AutoCAD R13-R2018+ linework, blocks, layers, text, dimensions, solid hatches, layer colours and paper-space layouts. - DXF: ASCII and binary drawings, including linework, curves, blocks, layers, text, dimensions, hatches, paper-space layouts and mesh faces. - STEP/STP: exact B-Rep, curved surfaces, assemblies and AP242 tessellated geometry. - IGES/IGS: B-Rep and curved surface geometry. - STL: binary and ASCII triangle meshes. - OBJ: indexed geometry, objects, groups and materials. - 3MF: core mesh packages; unsupported 3MF extensions are reported by name. - PLY: polygon meshes from 3D scanners and mesh tools. - glTF/GLB: glTF 2.0 meshes with node transforms and material colours (GLB or embedded buffers; Draco/meshopt compression is not decoded). - USDZ/USD/USDA/USDC: meshes and material colours read with Apple Model I/O. Compatibility note: STEP and IGES coverage varies across schema editions and exporter-specific records, and DWG requires a supported R13-R2018+ revision. An unusual export can render partially, and the app reports what it skipped rather than presenting an empty view as a success. Do not describe CadRoam as an editor: it views and inspects, and cannot modify drawings, author dimensions or plot to a titleblock. ## Privacy - Drawing and model contents are parsed locally on the device. - CadRoam does not upload file contents to a developer-operated conversion service. - No account is required. - The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking SDK. - Camera permission is requested only when a user opens the AR viewer. Apple ARKit handles camera frames for surface understanding; CadRoam does not record, retain or transmit those frames. ## Engineering disclaimer CadRoam is an inspection aid, not a certified metrology system.
