Match the app to the formats you receive
Architecture, civil and fabrication work arrives as DWG and DXF. Mechanical and supplier geometry arrives as STEP and IGES. Print and scan work arrives as STL and OBJ. Most teams see at least two of those three groups.
A mesh viewer that lists DWG in a feature table and fails on real drawings is a common and expensive discovery on site. Check which revisions and representations an app actually parses before you rely on it.
Subscriptions versus a one-time purchase
Viewing a drawing is an occasional task for most people, and paying annually for occasional review is poor value.
CadRoam is sold once rather than rented. Three unique files open free; reopening the same file or the built-in sample does not consume another free opening.
Camera AR and inspection reports
On supported iPads, CadRoam Pro places compatible geometry on a detected surface with Apple ARKit, at fitted scale or source units, so you can discuss a part in the room it will live in. Camera frames stay inside ARKit and are not recorded or transmitted.
Inspection PDFs are generated locally and shared with the standard system share sheet, so a review can leave the iPad as a document without the model leaving it as a file.
